Not Playing by the Rules

This post is about not taking photography rules too seriously. For example; 'do not shoot with the sun behind your subject' I am really enjoying shooting into the sun lately. I want to take photographs sometimes that simplify what I can see and produce a feeling, not just a flat image. Our modern brains see so many images, so perfect and exact, that we almost become blind to them. we expect each photograph to be super sharp. Like the perfect fruit and perfect pop stars and hi definition/ hi resolution televisions. We begin to forget about our other senses. how to tell if fruit is ripe by smell and feel, not by use by date. Anyway, that's another debate.. my point is that perfection isn't always perfect and doesn't always play by the rules...
